KTM, Austrian maker of mostly two-wheeled nonsense motorcycles, released the Audi-powered carbon fibre X-Bow sports car to much fanfare for European customers last year. But what about us Canucks? Well apparently KTM has heard our pleas. Not only with the X-Bow be sold in North America and be made street legal, but buyers are also given some optional goodies to choose from that will allow them to enjoy their track-day special all year. Even in the snow. Just look at those tires! They’ve got chains! Freaky. If you like cars, snow and S&M, follow the jump for more.
For those of you unfamiliar with the X-Bow, it has a 240 hp 2.0 TFSI engine mounted in the middle. This engine is not unlike the one in your Jetta and A4, just tweaked for a little more power. Oh, and did I mention that the X-Bow only weighs 790 kg (1741 lbs)? 0-100 kph in 3.9s doesn’t hurt its credibility as a sports car either. Neither does being named Top Gear’s Sports Car of the Year for 2008. Not bad for a company that’s never made a car before.
The CarEnvy-spec winter options consist of Pirelli Sottozero snow tires, chains, and some horribly expensive clothing.
We really, really want one of these.
