Yesterday, Fiat’s 500C went on sale in the UK. That’s all well and good for anyone who’s a global automotive enthusiast, right? But if you’re reading CarEnvy.ca, chances are good you’ve either a) resigned yourself to bemoaning all the cool stuff we don’t get, or b) are cautiously optimistic about when some of those things might make it over here.
I’m pleased to say that we’ve got a bit of news if you’re solidly residing within option B. Follow the jump to learn more.
At the official launch of the 500C, Fiat head of styling (and, it should be noted, the 500’s designer) Roberto Giolito confirmed that the base model 500 should be available in North America from 2010, with three other 500 models to follow in 2011: the convertible, a station wagon (!), and a “sporty hatchback” which Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne has indeed confirmed is the Abarth, or what he likes to term as Fiat’s “iPod.” A 4WD SUV may also be in the works, though this last model has yet to be confirmed.
Of course, it’s always possible that things could go awry between now and then. But with news like this, it’s hard not to get just a little bit excited.
