While the current gen 1-series is cool, it is a flawed vehicle. We can’t get the hatchback in North America, which makes me sad, and the back seats are miserable, which destroys any sense of real practicality. However, the 300hp twin-turbo powerplant is glorious. If these two things could be reconciled, I would be in love. Enter the 2nd gen 1-series, pictured here. Apparently, the 1-series hatch will be making its way across the pond, and should be offered with some smaller engines in addition to the existing straight sixes. Some added refinements to the engine line-up should be giving us some more power as well. The hatch will be the first to arrive, followed by coupe and convertible body styles, and possibly even a shooting brake and an M1. Sounds like the dream car for us hot hatch fanatics.
Gotta hate that BMW brand camo though. It actually works pretty well. Follow below for more spy shot goodness.
